The mayoral and London Assembly elections, due on 7 May, have been postponed owing to the current pandemic.

The Green candidate for South West London is Andree Frieze, and this is her reaction to the postponement:

"It's disappointing for the election to be put on hold, but as events have unfolded since that decision, it was very clearly the right one. Polling just before it was announced put the Greens on 12 per cent of the vote. This would have ensured us a third Assembly Member to join Sian Berry and Caroline Russell making a difference in City Hall. We will use the extra time the rescheduled election has given us to campaign even harder to share with voters the importance of electing Greens to power.

"In the meantime, I and the other Green Councillors and activists in Hounslow, Richmond and Kingston borough will continue to support their communities during this extremely difficult period. We hope that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy."
